5-8-24 Great run for Rans Simba to finish the season
Rans Simba Basketball, coached by head coach Thomas Roijakkers, has ended the regular season by winning 7 of their last 8 games. During the 1st round of the playoffs they faced the Bandung, who was the champion from last year. The loss of Simba's starting PG to a season ending injury seemed to be too much as they lost the series 1-2.
Coach Roijakkers' statement about the season: "Taking over a team in the middle of the season is never an easy task. There were many challenges along the way that we had to overcome. I am very glad we had such a strong finish of the season and I want to thank my players and staff for putting in the work every day that lead to our success.
We played our best basketball at the end of the season and peaked at the right time, by winning the last 7 out of 8 games before the start of the playoffs.
Disappointing was the season ending injury of our starting PG during the end of the season. I am not someone who makes excuses, but that was a lot for my team to overcome and too much as it turned out to win the series in the playoffs.
I am glad I was able to bring some stability and build a culture and structure which all contributed to improvements in the level of play, especially of the local players. I have really enjoyed my time here in Indonesia and coaching in the IBL and want to thank management for giving me the opportunity.

19-5-21 Coach Roijakkers leaves Dornbirn
After 1 season in Dornbirn it is time to say good bye and move on to a new challenge. Like many teams this year, mainly because of Covid, it was a very challenging season. Our situation was made extremely difficult when 8 players decided to leave the team before the 1st lock down in November. The scoring average of these 8 players was 77,2 points per game. With only 2 senior and 4 junior players we basically started over and continued the season. Even though we played games with 6 players, we still managed to stay in almost every game due to the competitiveness and toughness of my players. However we did have trouble scoring and at the end of the game a lot of times we simply ran out of gas.
During the course of the season we brought in some new players, but we were never really able to fill the hole that the 8 players left. Until the end the players kept working hard, got better each day and practiced with the right mindset and focus and we were able to finish the season strong with winning 2 out of the last 4 games. We did not win a lot of games, but the positive thing is that our young players had a lot of playing time and made big steps in their development. I really enjoyed coaching in Austria and since we travelled most games by train I had a chance to see a lot of the amazing sceneries this country has, especially in the winter time.
Thank you to all my players! You always went hard, stayed focused and gave everything you got. I take my hat off to our captain Sebastian who put the team on his shoulder and showed great leadership.
Thank you Markus Mittelberger for giving me this opportunity to coach your team. I wish you all the best for the future.
Thank you to our medical staff especially our physical therapist Daniel Rauter and our doctor Johanna Dreibholz. You have done an excellent job this year!
Thank you support staff especially Anita Oberlechner who made our road trips easier and a lot tastier .
I will miss the beautiful area and sites that Dornbirn has to offer, but now it’s time to look ahead and focus on the future.

"The upcoming weeks I will be in Tokyo and the surrounding area's.
Thanks to the Japan Basketball Association I had the chance to visit the National Training Center, which is truly a world class practice facility, and watch a practice of the women's national team of Japan. Besides that I was able to visit two games of the men's national team of Japan vs New Zealand in their preparation for the 2020 Olympics. Another highlight was the clinic with David Adkins and the B-League U15 All Stars. I am looking forward to the other opportunities I will have in the upcoming weeks.
The country of Japan is really an eye opener for me and so far my experiences have been absolutely great. Japan is one of the cleanest countries in the world and the Japanese are extremely friendly and helpful. The people are very disciplined and respectful and the food is great.

16-5-16 / Euroleague Final Four International Coaches Clinic
The Euroleague season is over and CSKA Moscow is being crowned the champion of 2016. During this weekend in Berlin I attended the Next Generation Tournament and the International Coaches Clinic. At the Next Generation Tournament I saw many good young players (some very young), who will be the stars for the future. The team of FC Barcelona won the tournament beating Belgrade in the finals 90 - 82.
The International Coaches Clinic had many very interesting speakers like Mike Brown (ex Cleveland Cavaliers / L.A. Lakers), Sergio Scariolo (National team of Spain) and John Patrick (Ludwigsburg) and 176 coaches in attendance. Many topics were addressed by these great coaches. Coach Mike Brown spoke about: “Offensive Post Spacing and Double Team Reaction when Posting a Perimeter Player with Two Traditional Bigs or with One Traditional”, “Post Defense with Different Ways to Double Team the Post and Rotations Out of the Post”, and "Flowing on Offense".
This was a very productive weekend with a lot of knowledge gained, a great time with my colleagues and high level basketball.
